Acts 2:14 – 5:42
Acts 2:43-47 is often cited as the ideal picture of what the Church should be – a place where believers worship God, give freely to one another, break bread in unity and joy, and invite others to join them. In this text, we also read of miracle after miracle as believers begin receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit who empowers them with spiritual gifts for good works. As believers lean into the unique gifts God has given them, they work together to build the church – the kingdom of God here on earth!
Take a moment and flip in your Bible to 1 Corinthians 12. This book was written by Paul. If you don’t know him yet, don’t worry – you’ll be well acquainted by the end of our study of Acts! Paul was a huge part of the growth of the early church and in 1 Corinthians he takes time to explain to the young believers in the city of Corinth more about the spiritual gifts that come from the Holy Spirit. Read 1 Corinthians 12:1-31 and take note of all the gifts you observe.
If you’ve never considered what gifts you might have, take this survey. Discovering your own spiritual gifts can take time, discernment, and input from other believers, but this survey is good place to begin. This will also be helpful information if you plan on coming to our Spiritual Gifts Workshop.

Join us a couple weeks from now on Zoom for a gathering designed to help strengthen you in your spiritual gifts. We will have some deeper teaching on spiritual gifts and explain some of the gifts that we find in Scripture. You will then have an opportunity to jump into a breakout group focused on your personal spiritual gift to learn more about your gifting and tangible ways you can begin to operate in those gifts. Gifts are given for a purpose, to build the kingdom of God and to build up the Church. Let’s get equipped together and start living an empowered Christian life!
