Weekly Teaching

Going Deeper

In this week’s study we’re continuing to follow along and be inspired by Paul’s missionary adventures. Paul’s journey led him through influential cities like Philippi, Thessalonica, Athens, Corinth, Ephesus, and Antioch. We learn in this section of Acts about how important cities are in God’s redemptive mission. As an example, Paul spent a considerable amount of time in Athens getting to know the culture of that great city in order to be prepared when the Lord opened up an opportunity to preach the gospel there. And, what an amazing job Paul did with sharing the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ from Mars Hill! Evangelism is definitely a significant area of focus this week. So are cities. Cities have many assets, and cities are strategic now more than ever in God’s redemptive mission because more than 50 percent of the people on this planet reside in or around urban environments. However, cities can also be very intimidating. We want to equip our Acts groups for evangelism, and we want to resource everyone with tools that will be useful to get to know our communities in meaningful ways. A resource called Exegeting The City has been developed for this week to assist all Acts study groups to get to know your city and community, just like Paul in Athens. Hopefully, this week’s content and resources will inspire us all to take risks, share our faith with others, and participate in God’s mission to reach the world!

An Invitation

One Warm Coat

Drop off donations in the bins located in your campus lobby through November 22.

One of the markers of the early church was their generosity to those in need. Perhaps one way to reflect that same generosity within your own group is to consider participating together in One Warm Coat. We are collecting new or gently used, clean coats, hats & gloves for infants, children and adults. These will be distributed to various ministries throughout the Pittsburgh region to provide for those in need this winter. We are working with our partners to provide for their specific needs during this unique season so please go to One Warm Coat to tell us more about your donation. Please drop off donations in the bins located in your campus lobby through November 22. Thank you for your generosity!

*Dormont and Beaver Valley – your campus will be collecting TOYS instead of coats for your local partners. Details will be coming from your Campus Pastor.
