Dream with us ...

You are walking in the city, and you step onto a new block and something shifts in your soul. You look up and you see everything around you is bright and beautiful. People of all different backgrounds are interacting and building one another up. What you are experiencing is Shalom or God’s plan for human flourishing. From the beginning God had a plan to accomplish his purposes through reaching cities. And as we see through Jesus’ ministry and the growth of the new church, cities played an important role in the spread of the Gospel of Jesus Christ! Today, when half the world’s population lives in cities, we continue Jesus’ mission to share His Gospel! That is why North Way continues to increase our strategies to reach our city and region!

Love God and love our neighbors.

What if Christians living out their faith in practical ways to serve their city could lead to transformed lives and transformed neighborhoods? We have a biblical mandate to love God and love our neighbors. Matthew 22:37-40 says, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments. This biblical calling is at the heart of our Ministry Hubs.

Christian Community Development.

North way is launching a new initiative called Ministry Hubs. These hubs will be located throughout the city of Pittsburgh, beginning in the East Liberty neighborhood. The Hubs will be places where people experience life change through a unique approach to urban ministry called, Christian Community Development. The CCD approach, part of a national movement, equips local churches like North Way to make a difference where they live work and play.

Biblical, practical principles.

The 8 key components to the Christian Community Development Philosophy are:

  • Redistribution
  • Relocation
  • Reconciliation
  • Leadership Development
  • Empowerment
  • Holistic approach
  • Church Based
  • Listening to the Community

This philosophy has been used around the United States for the past 40+ years to bring about lasting, positive change in cities. Training is provided on these valuable components. Look below for more info.

Frequently asked questions.

The first Ministry Hub has launched in January 2022!

Absolutely! This approach won’t be whole without everyone in God’s church engaging and loving one another.

Contact a ministry team member to learn more about opportunities, which include: prayer walking, listening sessions and community research.

The programing at each Hub will be dependent on the hopes and dreams of the residents in each neighborhood. Stay tuned to hear about what neighbor come up with through community listening sessions.
